including Wild Swans by Jung Chang, The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, The Great Game by Peter Hopkirk, The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon, Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, Possession by AS Byatt, An Instance of the Fingerpost by Iaian M. Pears, A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway, The Alexandria Quartet by Lawrence Durell, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, Kim by Rudyard Kipling, Shogun by James Clavell, A Bend in the River by VS Naipaul, The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles, Excellent Women by Barbara Pym and many more! Several of these we have read for our bookclub. A Moveable Feast is one of my all time favorites (altho' it must be read while in Paris). The Alexandria Quartet books are on my list of must reads...and have been for quite a while. Maybe they're the books I'll end up taking to the beach this summer.
