SPRINGTIME FLOWERS

What a beautiful time of year! Finally, it's Springtime on Cape Ann. This weekend the mercury crept towards 80 degrees. The forsythia and magnolias are in full bloom. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and muscari are everywhere! The muscari is really traveling beyond the front garden. It's everywhere on the front and back lawns. But it's too pretty to cut down!

Once you're "off the island" the cherry trees are in bloom but here in Gloucester we're a few days away from that treat! We don't yet have a green lawn and we can't take the cover off the pool yet...but the garden beds are ready...and on Memorial Day weekend we'll go to Goose Cove for our annual plant run!

We did find a glorious bright pink hydrangea yesterday at the BC which we'll plant some evening this week. Until then it adorns the glass table on our sunporch...our reward for our big Saturday afternoon clean up! The sunporch is our very favorite room from the end of April until the end of October.

The forsythia on our kitchen island is in a yellow vintage vase. Frank sits atop a vintage yellow table cloth decorated in a cute pear motif. Both the vase and tablecloth were found last weekend during our NH getaway! Our other summery NH finds included a beautiful cut crystal bowl perfect for fruit salad, a Spode Valencia Asparagus dish, eight Cape Cod glass sorbet cups, a crystal sunflower deviled egg plate and a simple glass relish plate. Score!
